Nature likes symmetry partly because it represents economy. Economy of energy and material. Most animals and plants have symmetrical bodies as this leads to halving the genetic code required for that particular organism. Only the basic repeating pattern is encoded which is symmetrically applied, and the whole organism is created.
By contrast we can see that broken symmetries in nature symbolize a lavishness, a detour from the rigorous path of economy. This is generally, if not always, enough to make the the thing beautiful! Be it in case of art or plants.
We can see some beautiful randomness in the Gasteria leaves. Broken symmetry always creates interesting shapes in the plants.
